Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Kinetic ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our mobile applications, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Who we are

Kinetic provides software for planning workouts, logging training and nutrition, viewing progress, participating in community features where enabled, and accessing coaching features where offered. The entity responsible for your personal data is the organization operating Kinetic under your app store listing or contract ("Data Controller"). Where required by law, we will identify that entity by legal name and address in-app or on request.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Kinetic, we may collect:

  • Account and profile data: email address, authentication identifiers, display name, avatar image, preferences, and onboarding information you provide.
  • Fitness and wellness data: workouts, exercises, sets, programs, schedules, personal records, estimated strength metrics, nutrition logs (including foods, macros, hydration), recipes, photos you submit for meal logging or similar features, health or recovery metrics where you connect a device or grant permission, and related timestamps.
  • Community content: posts, comments, reactions, and media you choose to publish where social features exist.
  • Coaching and AI interactions: messages and prompts you send to coaching features, and outputs generated for you, where those features are available.
  • Technical and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, approximate location derived from IP where standard for infrastructure, diagnostic logs, crash data, and product analytics such as feature usage and session duration, collected in line with your platform settings and applicable law.

How we collect information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you register, log data, upload media, or interact with features.
  • From devices or connected services when you authorize integrations (for example, health or wearable connections).
  • Automatically when you use the Services, including through cookies or similar technologies on our website where applicable.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Authenticate you, secure accounts, and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • Personalize your experience, including recommendations or coaching outputs.
  • Communicate with you about the Services, updates, and support.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect rights and safety.
  • Analyze usage in aggregate or de-identified form to improve the product.

Where the GDPR or similar frameworks apply, we rely on one or more of: performance of a contract with you; legitimate interests that are not overridden by your rights (for example security and product improvement); consent where required (for example certain marketing or optional analytics); and legal obligation.

Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information in the conventional sense. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who assist us with hosting, databases, analytics, customer support, email delivery, or similar processing under contractual safeguards.
  • App stores and payment processors when you subscribe or purchase through Apple, Google, or other platforms, subject to their policies.
  • Authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect users and the public.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice where required.

Community features may display content you publish to other users according to product settings.

Third-party AI processing

Some features rely on third-party AI providers to function. When you use these features, the relevant inputs you provide are sent to those providers solely to generate a response for you:

  • OpenAI, L.L.C. — powers Smart Coach chat, Chef recipes, and the AI Workout Generator. We send the text prompt you write plus relevant context (such as recent workouts, macro targets, and personal records).
  • Google LLC (Gemini) — powers AI Food Scan, AI Body Evaluation, and voice meal logging. We send the photo or voice clip you capture along with a short instruction describing what to analyze.

These requests are routed through our backend; the providers process the inputs only to return a result and are contractually required to protect your data to a standard equivalent to this policy, and not to use your inputs to train their models. We ask for your explicit consent inside the app before any data is shared with these providers, and you can decline.

International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required.

Retention

We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account subject to legal exceptions; some data may persist in backups for a limited period.

Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage strong passwords and device security.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You may control permissions in your device settings (for example health data). Some rights can be exercised in-app; you may also contact us as described below.

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA (for example, knowing categories of personal information and opting out of certain “sharing” or sales where applicable). We do not knowingly sell personal information of minors under 16 without affirmative authorization where required.

Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Third-party links and services

The Services may link to third-party sites or rely on third-party APIs. Their practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party content or services.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example in-app or by email). Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance unless prohibited by law.
